Annual Report for Community Development Available for Public Comment

The 2021 Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER) is the Department of Community Development’s annual report to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The 2021 CAPER describes the expenditures and accomplishments of more than $3 million in Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnership Grants (HOME), and Emergency Solutions Grants (ESG). The Department of Community Development served some of KCK’s most vulnerable populations in the 2021 program year which ran from October 2021 through September 2022. Notable accomplishments include:

  • 81 low-income households served through the CDBG Home Repair Program
  • 330 households served through ESG homelessness prevention, rapid rehousing, and emergency shelter programs
  • Replacement of the failing roof on the County’s only shelter for victims of domestic violence and their children
Multi-year projects that began in 2021 and will finish in the next year include the installation of a new disk-golf course at City Park and the installation of a spray park at Clifton Park. 

Public Comment Welcome

The 2021 Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (2021 CAPER) for the Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, Kansas (UG) will be available for review and public comment beginning Thursday, December 1st, 2022. This report summarizes annual accomplishments of the UG’s Community Development Block Grants, HOME Investment Partnership Grants, and Emergency Solutions Grants received from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Copies will be available at the Department of Community Development in Room 823 in the Municipal Office Building (address below) or online at https://www.wycokck.org/Departments/Community-Development/Plans-Reports.
