The Unified Government just announced that several tax rebates are now available!

  • Sales Tax and Utility rebates are available for eligible citizens who live in Kansas City, KS – these rebates cover a portion of your BPU, gas or AT&T utility bills and/or have paid sales tax.
  • Homestead and Safe Senior rebates are available for eligible Wyandotte County residents for a portion of your property taxes.
Sales Tax and Utility Rebates

If you can answer “yes” to these three questions, one or both of these rebates could be available to you:

  • Are you a resident of Kansas City, KS?
  • Were you born before January 1, 1957?
  • Is your gross income for you and your spouse $25,000 or less?
You can apply for the Utility and/or Sales Tax rebates from now through March 31 of every year. NOTE: these rebates are available for residents in Kansas City, KS only – residents of Bonner Springs or Edwardsville are not eligible.

    • Veteran's disability statement
    • Bank interest statements

    • If you pay BPU, Kansas Gas, Atmos Gas or AT&T landline bills, you will need copies of your previous year's utility bills. You can obtain copies of your BPU bills by calling BPU. Be sure you tell them you are applying for the Utility Rebate.
Homestead/Safe Senior/Disabled Veterans Rebates

If you own and live in your home, you can apply to have a portion of your real estate taxes refunded back to you from the State of Kansas.  To learn more about the Homestead and Safe Senior Rebates, visit wycokck.org/clerk and click on the box that says “Senior Tax Rebates.”
