Kenny Roelofsen is seeking the Republican nomination to represent the District 3 for a four-year term. The primary election will be held on August 6.

Roelofsen is running for election in the GOP primary against Megan Armstrong, Craig Chamberlin, and Scott Printz, according to BallotReady.org,

Roelofsen currently serves on the Dickinson Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors as a member of the Executive Board.

Roelofsen is also the digital marketing manager for Abilene Machine, a family-owned and operated agricultural parts company co-founded by his father Randy, as reported by the Salina Journal in January 2021.

Abilene Machine's website shares that the company was founded over 40 years ago and has grown into "one of the largest family-owned agricultural parts companies in the United States."

In October 2023, the High Plains Journal reported that Abilene Machine had made a $3,000 donation to Kansas Honor Flight, an organization providing all-expenses-paid trips to Washington, D.C., for World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War vets to visit memorials and monuments. "As a company deeply rooted in central Kansas, Abilene Machine recognizes the importance of supporting veterans and showing gratitude for their service," Roelofsen said. "This contribution to Kansas Honor Flight reaffirms our company’s commitment to veterans, both within the community and nationwide."

In a press release, R.E.D. PAC — a political action committee focused on rural economic development — presented Roelofsen as a candidate who "has demonstrated a robust understanding of the issues" in his district and has "a clear commitment to principles that ensure economic stability, promote transparency and accountability in governance, and safeguard the community."

R.E.D. PAC Chief Strategist Charlie Kolean endorsed Roelofsen, praising his "unparalleled dedication to protecting private property rights and implementing practical solutions to enhance community living" and predicting that his "leadership will be instrumental in ensuring that Kansas communities thrive in an environment where freedom, security, and prosperity are the top priorities."

The Dickinson County Commission comprises three members, each representing one district.

According to the Kansas County Commissioners Association, commissioners' responsibilities include overseeing the county personnel system, maintaining county property, managing county business, reviewing, adjusting, and adopting the annual county budget, and authorizing the levy and collection of property taxes. Commissioners are elected to staggered four-year terms.
